Owner and operator of the renowned Salon Aguayo, Joseph Aguayo has been in the hair business for over three decades. Joseph has had an extensive career and achieved remarkable success. His attention to detail and consistency propelled him to become an Artistic Director and platform artist for Toni and Guy. The Toni and Guy methodology supplemented by his training with the Vidal Sassoon Academy has led Joseph to hold himself to the highest standards in not only hair care but customer service as well.
Salon Aguayo first opened in 1998 as a full service salon featuring many beauty services. As the owner and operator, he led Salon Aguayo to become the premiere hair salon in Pasadena and was recognized in 2012 as the “Best Hair Salon in Pasadena”.
Joseph is not just a hair stylist but also an active member of his community. Salon Aguayo has been involved in local charities, Junior League of Pasadena, The Cancer Support Community, and more. In addition, Joseph serves as a mentor to aspiring hair stylists and has trained many assistants over the years to become salon professionals, educators, and owners.
In his unending quest for passionate artistic expression, Joseph relocated Salon Aguayo to 101 S. Madison Ave in the Playhouse District of Pasadena to recreate Salon Aguayo. Incorporating state of the art and custom made equipment, the contemporary ambiance of the new Salon Aguayo creates an artistic environment, which nurtures talent, and clients alike while providing the best hair care experience Los Angeles has to offer.
A Los Angeles native, Karen has loved and devoted herself to the hair industry for three decades. Her high standards and hunger for education have made her successful as a stylist, teacher and mentor. Her lifelong friendship with Joseph Aguayo has been the source of strength and inspiration.
Michelle McMichael has been with Salon Aguayo for over ten years as the office manager. She is an important team member that brings unity to the salon. Michelle oversees the daily operations to ensure the salon runs smoothly and efficiently. Her diligent work, organization, and warm personality contribute to the success of Salon Aguayo.
Natalie Bodaghian has a deep passion for the beauty industry. She has been trained and mentored by Master stylist and Salon owner Joseph Aguayo. Outside of the salon, Natalie has worked as a stylist in the television and music industries. Natalie strives to understand and respect her clients and their hair while educating them on new products and services to provide the best hair care experience possible. Natalie's mission in life is to make this world beautiful one person at a time.
Gary Domasin began his career as a theatrical hair and makeup man in New York. Upon relocating to Pasadena he quickly made a name for himself as a premier hair cutter and stylist at Salon Aguayo. Gary is also an adjunct faculty member at USC, teaching theatrical hair and makeup all while continuing to work in the film and commercial industry. “I focus on what I love, and I work at being the best at it. For me, that’s Cut, Color & Design.”
Alexandria Gonzales draws inspiration from fashion and music for the styles she creates. Applying knowledge from the New York Redken Exchange, the Toni and Guy Academy, and on going training at Salon Aguayo, she specializes in Ombres and personalized color. More than a career, her craft has led her to win awards and contribute to The Flintridge Guild, The Foothill Unity Center and Hope for Sendai Charity events.
Sarah's interest in hair is rooted in her childhood and only continues to grow. Using her artistic talents, she loves to match clients with their ideal look. Sarah has spent the past year broadening her skillset in the New Talent program and working under salon owner and master stylist, Joseph Aguayo. While Sarah's favorites are short textured haircuts and dimensional color, she enjoys all arenas of hair styling. Sarah prides herself on providing fresh looks and welcoming attitude to new clients.
Making her local debut in the 2005 Pasadena Chalk Festival, Janine Ker is no stranger to Pasadena. As an artist, it is her approach to hair as a medium that drives Janine Ker, as a hair stylist. Her favorite aspects of hair are the sculptural component of cutting, and the power of individual color formulation. Janine's goal is to design a look for her clients that will punctuate their personality. Recently, her unique approach to hair as an art form was featured on Ovation TV's "The Art Of: Hair", where her creative process of building sculptures out of hair was documented.
Marquis found his passion for the beauty industry at a young age. He is currently working with and being mentored by Own/ Master Stylist Joseph Aguayo, and furthering his education attending The Salon University. At the start of his career Marquis plans to grow in the hair industry becoming an educator focusing on hair sculpting.
Mickey's journey to being a hairstylist originated when she was just 4 years old. She began her career at Salon Aguayo under the direct mentoring of master stylists Karen Spinelli and Joseph Aguayo. she continues to grow at Salon Aguayo specializing in dimensional hair color and precision cuts. "I love hair! I love helping people feel better and look great!"
Sid Molina began his career at Vidal Sassoon in Beverly Hills assisting some of the best hairdressers in the world. His journey with Vidal Sassoon gave him a chance to work in London and San Francisco. In London, his first big experience was working along side the Creative Team at Saint Martin's fashion show. In San Francisco, he was able to work in the education center for Vidal Sassoon and help with the apprentice training program. This is where Sid fell in love with educating the next generation of hairdressers. Sid’s next challenge came at Mercer Street Salon in San Francisco where he took on the title of Creative Director/Manager. At Mercer Street Salon, he developed an advanced education program for staff and an apprenticeship program. Working with Mercer Street Salon Team, they went on to do shows for Nordstrom and local San Francisco Designers. The past five years he has worked with Leonor Greyl on Fashion Shows and in-salon training. Sid has taught product knowledge and hair cutting demos for Leonor Greyl all throughout the states. He has worked the Casa Event the last three years working with collections from Valentino, Michael Kors and Donna Karen. He has worked as the National Education Director for Kasho Shears traveling throughout the United States teaching and demonstrating hair cutting techniques at hair shows, schools and salons. The next chapter in his life is Stylist at Salon Aguayo!
Yen Ly is a makeup artist and a California Licensed Cosmetologist. She focuses all of her talent in providing permanent makeup services to clients of all ages. Yen specializes in creating natural, soft, and subtle looks as well as professional and polished permanent makeup. Yen’s education and her attention to detail is what make her a standout artist. She truly enjoys helping people regain their confidence while looking and feeling younger with permanent cosmetic makeup.
Silva Shnoravoryan has been working in the beauty industry for two years. She loves working at Salon Aguayo and being able to witness all of the amazing hair transformations that the stylists are able to create. Her goal is to uphold excellent customer service and to ensure that your experience with us is amazing from the time you walk in until the time you leave the salon.
